As told by God · Revelations

What I’m afraid of

We had our Soaking (Prayer + Praise & Worship) with the Music Ministry members in our Church. As we were singing, weeping, crying, worshiping God,  we can feel that the Holy Spirit was moving, everyone has been touched by the Holy Spirit and some of us have shared some stories with what God has told them to share.

One of the stories that was shared would be the time when God saved and brought the Israelites out of Egypt. We all know how God loves the Israelites and God promised that He will bring them to the Promise Land, A land flowing with milk and honey.  But the thing is, while they were on their journey, the Israelites kept on complaining, kept on sinning and became unfaithful to God by worshiping and creating other gods.

In Exodus 32,  Moses was taking so long in coming down from the mountain because He was praying and talking to God. The Israelites gathered around and told Aaron (Moses’s brother) to make gods for themselves. They were impatient enough and did create a god made with gold and silver (Exodus 32:1-6)

As the Lord was talking to Moses, we can feel that He was mad and was deeply hurt seeing His people turn their back from Him, serving, singing, praising other gods after He had brought them out of slavery, out of pain, out of Egypt, the Israelites chose their idols, their own made gods.

As the story goes, God was about to kill the Israelites but Moses begged and cried out to God and asked Him to spare their lives. (Exodus 32:7-14)

The heartbreaking, heart wrecking, heart tearing part of the Story is this,

In Exodus 33:1-3, God said:
Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob , saying, I will give it to your descendants.I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

“Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey but
I will not go with you,

because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.”

“I will not go with you”

We were all soaked in tears hearing this. I think we were all thinking of the “what if’s” and “why’s” but I guess, why we cried the most is because we were afraid,

We are afraid to lose God.

Often times,
We make Him our option
We disobey Him
We run away from Him
We hide from HIm
We put Him in the least of our Priorities

Most of the times, WE HURT GOD.

It’s somehow ironic because God doesn’t need us but HE wants us and In the other way around We need God but we sometimes don’t want Him.

Like the Israelites, they’ve been waiting, complaining, blaming, doubting, if God’s promise is true, forgetting and not knowing that GOD has already and is already fulfilling His PROMISE.

God was with them all the time. Even it was breaking His heart hearing the Israelites doubting Him, Accusing him, Blaming Him. God was there. He kept on reminding them, several times. He kept on telling Moses how He loved them, that He is fighting for them. (Exodus 3:12-15)  (Exodus 6:7) (Exodus 14:14-20)

It would also be the same for us. God is always with us. God is fighting for us. But we often forget about Him and focus on other things rather than focusing to the one who save us, love us, guide us several times.

We are too focus on the situation
We are too focus on pain
We are too focus on our struggles
We are too focus on the blessings
We are too focus on our dreams
We are too focus in this world, on what the world offers rather than what God offers.

We are too focus on the promises not on the promiser.
We are too focus on healing rather than the Healer
We are too focus seeking comfort rather than the Comforter
We are too focus on being Love rather than the Lover
We are too focus on being saved rather than our Savior

I admit that we as humans, have been corrupted by the world and has enjoyed sin. At the end of the day, God will remind us, that HE is all that we need.

It’s true that God will fulfill His promises.  That we have to trust Him no matter what. That He is in control. That He will be with us.

We have to remember that all this promises, all this words, all this assurance, they are all nothing without GOD . All the things we have, all the desires that we have, If God is not with us, it won’t make sense.

Yes, you can have everything you want, but if it does not include God, then it’s worthless. Everything is meaningless.

So now, think of it. What if God will give you His promise but He will say
“I’m sorry, I WILL NOT GO WITH YOU anymore”

Would it be fine with you? What would you feel?
Would you go on having this promise rather than being with God?

Do you fear on losing the promises? your dreams? your love one? your friends? your strength, everything you have? or Do you fear on losing God?

As I sit, think of it and cry, I don’t want to lose Him. I know how it feels running  away from God and running back to God. I know how it feels to disobey and to obey Him. I don’t know about you but I am afraid to lose Him. I can’t do it, I can’t go on without God.

As the Israelites heard what Moses told them, on what God told them, they mourn.  (Exodus 33:4) They  have sinned but as they mourn they showed that they were afraid to lose God

And as they continue their journey,  Moses cried out to God saying  ”
If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here  How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people  unless you go with us ? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” And the Lord said to Moses, “  I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” (Exodus 33:15-17)

Take a deep breath and relax. God has His promises. He is not a man who He should lie. We should also know our stand with Him. We should know Him and want Him more. BUT, we have to know that if GOD’s PROMISE ARE TRUE, WE SHOULD VALUE GOD FIRST.

In Matthew 6:33, it says “But  seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and  all these things will be given to you as well”

Another promise God gave is this:

“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14)

We may feel DEFEATED. BROKEN. LEFT ALONE. ABANDONED. REJECTED. UNWANTED. The thing is, even when you lose everything, you have HIM.  He is everything.
He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)

The greatest fear that we should have is the fear on losing Him rather than losing everything we have. God is everything that we need, remember that.

Along with this, God wants you to know that;

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; No one will snatch them out of my hand  (John 10: 27-28)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9)

There is Fear on losing God but there is no fear if we have Him 🙂

All my Love,
